George Mason University Arlington Campus Advisory Board
Created to accomplish goals important to both Arlington County as well as George Mason University, the George Mason University Arlington Campus Advisory Board was officially established in March 2011 by the Arlington County Board and Mason officials.
Mission Statement
The Mason Advisory Board was established to:
- Provide the County and the University with recommendations focused on ensuring successful collaboration between the entities on issues of mutual interest.
- Provide the University with recommendations and support in meeting its higher education mission and goals for the Arlington campus, including increasing service in Arlington.
- Help the University broaden its communication and resource networks locally, nationally and internationally with individuals and organizations critical for meeting the University’s goals for higher education and research.
- Provide a periodic forum for community discussion of engagement collaborations between the County and the University.
Mason Advisory Board Members
The Board is comprised of fifteen members and a staff liaison from both the County and the University. Members appointed by the Arlington County Board include a cross section of County representatives: Robert Smith, Chair, Joe Bruns, Chris Milikin, Jody Olson, Sarah Zevin, John Shooshan, Carol Rickard (County Board appointees), Audrey Kremer, Vice Chair (School Board designee), Katherine Wood (Arts Commission), and James Schroll (Ballston-Virginia Square Civic Association). Members appointed by Mason include: Ed Rhodes, Dean, School of Public Policy, Michelle Marks, Associate Provost, Graduate Education, Kathleen Johnson, Assistant Vice President, Regional Campuses, Cathy Wolfe, Director, Campus Planning and Toni Andrews, Associate Director, The Office of Community & Local Government Relations - Arlington Campus.
Meeting Schedule
The Advisory Board meets quarterly at Founders Hall at the George Mason University Arlington Campus.
