In June 2012, Arlington-based ÜberOffices opened its doors to early-stage technology companies, creative professionals and entrepreneurs in the D.C. Metro area, offering fully furnished office space and a premium portfolio of business development services. Local entrepreneur Raymond Rahbar founded ÜberOffices to accelerate the pace of innovation in the local technology industry, considered an emerging “Silicon Alley” by industry leaders.
ÜberOffices, located two blocks from the Rosslyn metro in Arlington, is expected to host 75 unique businesses within its first year, with plans to grow to 300 by the end of 2013. Its members are designing technology solutions for consumers, enterprise, and government, primarily focusing on mobile, media, big data and SAAS business products and services. Membership options include virtual office space, open desks, or fully furnished offices for up to eight people. Freelancers may select to occupy space in the “bullpen,” reserved for creatives, graphic designers, developers, digital media and marketing specialists who accept assignments from other members.
ÜberOffices has partnered with local institutions and leaders to host events throughout the year, including business plan competitions, conferences, regular cocktail parties with industry leaders and a Hackathon. ÜberOffices is not a traditional business incubator; rather than providing funding, it offers a membership mix designed to accelerate the speed of business growth. Members of ÜberOffices benefit from networking with other businesses sharing the physical space, and are provided with a range of cutting-edge educational seminars, member-exclusive events and professional consulting services to help grow their businesses. Local angel investors and venture capitalists offer mentoring services to members by hosting office hours at ÜberOffices.
