New Web Site Educates Public on What is Needed to Build in Arlington
Brick-and-mortar construction in Arlington has gone digital with the launch of Building Arlington, a new website dedicated to making the building process smoother and easier. Securing permits and understanding the regulations for a building project can be a confusing process.
To better serve Arlington residents, businesses and development community, the County created a streamlined and newly redesigned web site that went live early this month.
The biggest change comes in having cross-departmental information — from permits to tips — centralized in one location. Customers can go to building.arlingtonva.us for all Zoning, Inspection Services and Code Enforcement information, as well as find access to the online permitting and inspections systems. The site is also mobile-accessible from your smartphone, tablet or computer.
Relevant Content to Save our Customer Time
The redesign made the content as accessible to customers as possible by creating information uniquely relevant to residents, business owners, contractors, developers or design professionals. Seasoned experts can quickly find what they’re looking for with the resource library and keyword search, which house forms, applications, checklists and more. Beginners can start by browsing popular projects or the Question & Answer section, both of which are updated frequently. And anyone can (and should!) sign up for email updates for the latest news on changes to zoning, codes and regulations.

Building Arlington is an effort of the Inspection Services and Zoning, Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development, to continue to provide high-level customer service by providing the public with easy-to-understand quality information about the construction process in Arlington.
